 | | | Malaria Project | |
| | | | | : Description | | We’ve helped to train a “malaria committee” from the village to run workshops for pregnant women or mothers with children under the age of 5, teaching the causes and prevention of the disease along with recognition of the symptoms and benefits of fast treatment. On completion of the workshop the attendees can buy an insecticide treated net at a heavily subsidised cost. The net and person are registered and checked up on every few months to ensure the net is being used correctly (and not for fishing).
The malaria project has been running successfully in Guludo village since February 2006. Nema is hoping to extend this project to a further 3 villages by the next rainy season (December 2006), reaching over 1500 women and their families.
