 | | | Sanitation Project | |
| | | | | : Description | | An educational sanatation project will start shortly aimed at reducing water bourne diseases, a major contributor to the incredibly high infant mortality rate. Nema will use the same principles as with the malaria project and work with the community to establish a "sanitation group" and liase with the government to train the group to be able to run workshops in the village. The sanitation group will then run workshops for groups of up to 6 women at a time who, at the end of the workshop, will receive a "rehydration measuring spoon" which indicated (in Portuguese) how much sugar and salt should be put into a litre of water to rehydrate a child or adult plus a leaflet.
