Young Social Entrepreneur of the Year, 25-year old Amy Carter, founded fair trade tourism company Bespoke Experience (bespokeexperience.com) in 2004 to "change the way people view tourism", directing revenue from her first tourism resort - Guludo Beach Lodge in the Quirimbas national park, Mozambique - to help fund local community projects and marine conservation. The Quirimbas national park was founded in 2002 at the request of the inhabitants and covers 7,500 sq km including the largest protected marine area in Africa. Guests staying in Guludo's tented bedrooms are just metres away from the colourful, teeming waters of the Indian Ocean. A second property, Mipande Bush Lodge, 15km inland from Guludo and built on the same principles, is due to open at the end of this year.
Where she goes: A trek or take a river boat through the mangrove to Mipande.
